The Jarman House
Stacy & Todd Bengston Home
2520 Old Bullard Road
Built in the early 1930's by Dr. and Mrs. Jarman, this delightful Azalea District home is tucked in the woods on Old Bullard Road. It is now the home of Stacy and Todd Bengston and their three boys. The family moved to Tyler five years ago and into this Colonial Revival home two and one half years ago. They were drawn to the home by its "New England farmhouse" feel, by the large lot, and by their love of old homes. They sought Tyler out as an ideal place to rear their family.
Stacy and Todd are a busy young family, she with raising children and volunteer projects, and he as a vascular surgeon with Trinity Clinic. Restoring and renovating this charming home also occupies their time.
Former owners Ruth and Roe Buckley and Jabo and Barbara Jones Johnson contributed greatly to the expansion and updating of the house, which has grown to meet the needs of the families who lived here. Additions include a family room, a master bedroom, a large kitchen, a guest room, and a laundry room. Original to the house are the living and dining rooms as well as parts of the upstairs. The beautiful hardwood floor in the living and dining rooms are also original.
The Bengston's collect antiques, and a favorite item of theirs is a church pew from England which a local antique dealer literally carried out of the church and across a field. Their dining table is interesting because it was made from a floor taken from an English farmhouse in 1800.
Thank you Todd and Stacy for opening your home for the Candlelight Tour and for hosting the Candlelight Tour party.
