“Old House” Seminar highlights National Preservation Month
The National Trust designates May as National Preservation Month. Events include a Photo Contest in the Tyler paper sponsored by Historic Tyler and the second annual “Old House Fair” seminar co-sponsored by Historic Tyler, the City of Tyler Historial Preservation Board, Heart of Tyler, Tyler Woman’s Building, Smith County Historical Society and the Tyler Homebuilders Association.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 7, 1:00 p.m. at the Woman’s Building – 911 South Broadway! Registration online is requested and check-in will begin at 12:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

The seminar will feature topics on paint and exterior preservation concerns as well as sessions on how to apply for Tyler Historical Landmarks, site markers, Half Mile of History and Certificates of Appropriateness. Tyler’s Historical Overlay and Conservation Districts will also be discussed. The event is free of charge, but reservations are requested by registering online below (preferred) or calling the Historic Tyler office at 903-595-1960.
