Preserve Tyler’s Treasures Fund
Rehabilitation Grant to Assist Historic Property Owners
Historic Tyler, Inc. is announcing a new grant program to encourage local property owners of residential or commercial properties to rehabilitate their properties in a manner consistent with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. The Preserve Tyler’s Treasures Fund will allow for exterior rehabilitation of properties fifty years and older.
A maximum of $15,000 will be awarded. Typical grant amounts will range from $2,000 to $4,000 with no grant larger than $5,000.
A dollar for dollar match is required for this project. Proof of matching funds is required. Applications in PDF may be obtained after September 1 from the Historic Tyler office, 815 S. Broadway by calling 903/595-1960, or downloaded MS Word File online here.
SCHEDULE
December 31, 2011: Completed applications due
January 31, 2012: Grant awards announced
February 6, 2012: Grant agreement signed
Work must be completed on properties within 6 months of signed grant agreements and final reports submitted.
Selection criteria includes: property must be within the Tyler, TX city limits, structure must be at least 50 years old, historic relevance of the structure, proven necessity of the rehabilitation project, evidence that the project would probably not be undertaken without this seed money, Potential for beneficially impacting neighboring properties, project’s budget and applicant’s ability to secure a match, qualifications of key personnel, and demonstrated ability of the applicant to complete preservation projects.
